PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for obtaining, effectively and stably in quantities, a polyamide having a high-molecular weight required, by automatically and speedy controlling a polycondensation reaction. SOLUTION: The polyamide is produced from raw monomers composed of xylidenediamine or bisaminomethylcyclohexane, and dicarboxylic acid. In polymerization, (A) a molar ratios of the raw monomers in contents of reaction, and (B) a water concentration, a carboxy-group concentration at terminal, an amino-group concentration at terminal, a molecular weight, a relative viscosity or melting viscosity, are measured, and changing of the condition of pressure and temperature and decision of the end point of polymerization reaction, are carried out while controlling the mol ratios of contents of reaction from the measured values above.
