PURPOSE: An electron gun of a cathode ray tube having a plate cold cathode for electron emission is provided to avoid leakage of electron and drive the cold cathode with a lower voltage. CONSTITUTION: An electron gun(100) of a cathode ray tube is mounted on a cathode(200). The cathode(200) includes insulators(202) formed by a support electrodes(201), and driving electrodes(203) supported by the insulators(202). An electron emission device(206) is formed on a substrate(205) that is attached on the top of the driving electrode(203). An electron drawing electrode(220) is arranged over the electron emission device(206). Electrons drawn by the electron drawing electrode(220) is focused to a beam by electron suppressing electrodes(210). Focusing electrodes(230) focus and accelerate the beam. A lead(204) is coupled to the bottom of the driving electrode(203) to apply a signal for adjusting the amount of the beam.
