HIGH MOLECULAR POLARIZING SUBSTRATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarized light separating plate which has high heat resistance and characteristics having no change with the lapse of time, efficiently utilizes incident illumination light and improves display brightness of a liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: A high molecular polarizing substrate is a planar body, made of a transparent resin constituting a substrate of the liquid crystal display element and is distinguished such that when natural light is made incident perpendicularly on the planar body, respective diffraction efficiency of orthogonally crossed polarized light components of zero-th-order transmitted diffracted light is >=60% for one and <=40% for another.
