PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ferrite stainless steel superior in workability and toughness and the production method for the same. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the stainless steel that contains, by mass, C: 0.02% or less, N: 0.02% or less, Cr: 10-30%, Si: 0.01-2.0%, P: 0.04% or less, S: 0.02% or less, Nb: 0.1-1%, sol. Al: 0.001-0.2%, Mg: 0.0001-0.002%, Ca: 0.003% or less, Mn: 2% or less, O: 0.01% or less, with the distribution of 20 to 1000 pieces of aluminum magnesium inclusions per mm2 into the steel, the size of which is 0.5 micrometers or greater in its longer axis. The production method for the stainless steel is also provided.
