PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To greatly simplify the manufacture of a both-side cut face gear while maintaining high precision. SOLUTION: A tool 13 fixed on a tool spindle 14 of a numerically controlled gear grinding device or a hobbing device is adequate for machining upper and lower teeth 2, 3 of the face gear 1 to be gear cut at its both sides by two opposed portions 18, 19 thereof in accordance with the configuration of a tool head 17 related to this invention without cancelling rotating synchronization between a ground worm formed during fixing the same and grinding the first tooth and a workpiece, while avoiding contact therebetween. The need for refixing the workpiece 1 during machining both gear teeth 2, 3 is eliminated, therefore greatly reducing a total machining time and preventing the lowering of precision following the refixation of the workpiece 1. |
