PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eco-friendly transport device and a transport method easy in speeding up, reducing energy consumption, inexpensively installable and operable, and causing little hindrance such as influence of a magnetic field and noise. SOLUTION: A transport device body 2 for gliding on a fluid film track 1 has a sled part 4 having a smooth curved surface in front of the advancing direction 3. A side surface 5 of the transport device body 2 in the rear of the sled part 4 has a projecting wing part 6 straightly inclining downward and backward. After fluid of the fluid film track colliding with the front of the sled part 4 branches off into a bottom part fluid 13 turning to a sled part bottom part and a side surface fluid 8 flowing along a side surface of the sled part, the side surface fluid 8 turns to the bottom part of the sled part 4 along the projecting wing part 6, and the transport device body is floated by dynamic fluid pressure by the wedge effect.
