PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and stably measure the specific gravity with simplified structure. SOLUTION: In the measuring step, an object to be measured M is first mounted on a mount section 21, and a tared weight W1 is measured in the air. Then, the object to be measured M is disposed in a pulling down section 25 and entirely dipped in liquid 22 in a bath 23. A tared weight W2 obtained by a measuring section 24 is equivalent to a buoyant force B the object to be measured M receives, i.e., the volume V of the liquid 22 displaced by the object to be measured M in the case the density of the liquid 22 is equal to one. Therefore, the specific gravity S is determined by calculating the following: W1/W2=W/V.
