PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air valve capable of preventing water from being splashed to give an ill effect to a peripheral section even when water spouts or flows to the outside of a valve box. SOLUTION: A bucket 12 having a flange-like bottom section 12A stretched nearly horizontally in the outer direction of the diameter and an annular peripheral wall section 12B continued to the outer peripheral end section of the flange- like bottom section 12A and extending nearly vertically upward is provided on the outer periphery of the valve box 2. The flange-like bottom section 12A of the bucket 12 is provided with a drain passage 13 comprising a hose joint 13A screwed and fitted to a through screw hole 12a provided on the flange-like bottom section 12A and a drain hose 13B connected to the hose joint 13A at its base end section.
