PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure life of a power roller and an outer ring without increasing rotating resistance and also to improve durability of a thrust ball bearing without lowering performance of toroidal type continuously-variable transmission. SOLUTION: The value K1c of destructive tenacity of material forming the power roller 8A is greater than the value K1c' of destructive tenacity of material forming the outer ring 17a (K1c>K1c'). Maximum surface contact stress Pmax between an inner raceway 18a and respective balls 16 and 16 is smaller than maximum surface contact stress Pmax' between an outer raceway 19a and respective balls 16 and 16 (Pmax<Pmax').
