PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition of a one-component type which is excellent in workability, hardly influences a prime coating film, and has a good recoatability and excellent resistances to weather, water, and chemicals (especially, such a high alkali resistance as to enable the use for inorganic substrates). SOLUTION: This coating composition contains a metal drier (B) and a fatty-acid-modified vinyl resin solution (A) containing a fatty-acid-modified vinyl polymer (a) and an organic solvent containing an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent. The fatty-acid-modified vinyl polymer (a) is prepared by reacting a (semi)drying oil fatty acid with a vinyl copolymer which is obtained by using, as essential monomers, (methyl)glycidyl (meth)acrylate and at least one vinyl monomer of which the homopolymer has a solubility parameter of 9.0 or higher.
