PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seated monitoring system and a method therefor capable of dispensing with time and labor that a user judges by her/himself when investigating a person. SOLUTION: When the user wants to know seated information of the person under monitoring of a camera part 4 and inputs demand seating information into a demand origin terminal unit 1, the demand seating information is transmitted to a camera connection terminal unit 3 from the demand origin terminal unit 1 through a network 2. The camera connection terminal unit 3 is provided with a seating judgement processing part 32 judging seating information of seating, vacant seat, attendance at a meeting, answering to telephone, and refusal to interview from images photographed by the camera part 4. When a demand receive part 31 receives the demand seating information, the seating information judged by the seating judgement processing part 32 is transmitted to the demand origin terminal unit 1 from a result output part 33 through the network 2 to inform the user of the seating information. Moreover, when the seating information judged by the seating judgement processing part 32 is changed, new seating information is transmitted from a result output part 31 to inform the user of the change of the seating information.
