PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce the induced thrust and slide resistance of a tripod constant velocity universal joint. SOLUTION: This constant velocity universal joint is provided with an outer joint member in which three track grooves having roller guide faces facing each other in the circumferential direction thereof are formed, a tripod member having three leg shafts protruded in the radial direction, the rollers inserted in the track grooves, and the rings which are externally fitted to the leg shafts to rotatably support the rollers. Each roller is movable in the axial direction of the outer joint member along the roller guide face, and the ring has free relations, to the leg shaft in axial movement and swiveling. Further, a grinding process is performed only on the region of the outer peripheral face of the leg shaft contacting the inner peripheral face of the ring.
