PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To be able to detect the malfunction of a control system that controls a reciprocating mobile carriage before the malfunction has a bad effect on the motion of a reciprocating mobile carriage. SOLUTION: This control device has a hydraulic actuator 3, a directional and speed control valve 5, a hydraulic cylinder 6, and detecting means 20, 23, and 24. The hydraulic actuator 3 drives a reciprocating mobile carriage. The directional and speed control valve 5 drives the hydraulic actuator 3. The hydraulic cylinder 6 drives the control valve 5. The detecting means 20 detects the load of the cylinder 6. The detecting means 23, 24 detect the pressure of a working fluid supplied into the cylinder 6.
