PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent blocks forming a retaining wall from overturning toward a mountain side without using supports borne by the ground, when the blocks are piled up in a slanting direction. SOLUTION: There is provided a method for rigidly piling up the blocks for the retaining wall, according to which blocks 1a in an undermost stage are fixed on a foundation 4, and blocks 1b in a second stage are piled up on the undermost blocks 1a. Then, a wire ropes 13 stretched from a hook 12 which is hooked on an upper bed of each block 1b are tied to the block 1a in the lower stage, to thereby acquire reaction for preventing overturning. Alternatively, a connecting member 17 may be stretched and fixed astride the upper and lower blocks 1a and 1b on a valley side, to thereby acquire reaction. As a result, the blocks are not supported by the supports borne by the unstable natural ground, and therefore safety in construction and assembling accuracy are remarkably increased.
