PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high-purity iodonium salt by a simple operation in a high yield. SOLUTION: After reacting a compound expressed by formula (2) and a compound expressed by formula (3) with sulfuric acid in acetic acid and/or acetic anhydride, a solvent having low solubility of a formed iodonium bisulfate represented by formula (4) is added to a reaction solution, the bisulfate is separated and further a salt exchange is carried out to obtain the objective iodonium salt compound expressed by formula (1).
