PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a devanning method and a devanning device capable of miniaturizing a necessary space outside of a container in a direction for pulling out a heavy material from the container, and capable of improving the working efficiency of devanning. SOLUTION: When devanning the heavy material 19 loaded on the container 11, a forklift 28 is arranged at an open end of the container 11 so that the fork 29 is directed to the container 11. In the condition that a wire rope 25 is held for rotation by a pulley 24 of a direction converter 22 fixed between an end reinforcing member 15 and a floor surface 21 of the container 11, one end of the wire rope 25 is locked with a pallet 1 for the container of the heavy material 19. The other end of the wire rope is locked with the fork 29 of the forklift 28. In this condition, when the fork 29 is lifted upward, the heavy material 19 is pulled out to the open end through the wire rope 25.
