PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tandem press device and an operation method therefor capable of carrying out successively a plurality of forming processes, making the variation in speeds among each process the same even if the forming ener gies for each stage are different, eliminating the intermittent operation caused by electric interlock to enhance productivity, performing fine control in single operation, and stopping a press for an unnecessary process when the number of pressing necessary for a work is small. SOLUTION: A plurality of machine presses 15 each of which transmits a rotating force of a drive shaft 11 to a crank driving mechanism 13 through a clutch 12 to move a slide vertically, and has a brake 14 for controlling the crank driving mechanism, and a plurality of line shafts 16 for connecting between the drive shafts of each machine press are provided. Furthermore a driving motor 18 for rotating and driving the drive shaft 11 is provided on one or more of a plurality of the machine presses.
