PURPOSE: A timing control method for controlling power of a forward common data channel is provided to shorten a durability of a battery of a radio terminal by effectively performing a fast closed-loop for a specific terminal in case of using an FCDCH(Forward Common Data Channel) for a data transmission insensible to delay. CONSTITUTION: A user of a terminal sets one of slot-based mode and a frame-based mode in order to control a relative offset of the FCDCH and a DPCH(Dedicated Physical Channel). In the slot-based mode, the performs a forward link channel estimation by a slot unit and transmits a forward link power control bit by slot unit. The relative offset of the DPCH to the FCDCH is determined depending on a power control delay, a parameter given in a communication system, by which a frame offset of the DPCH is obtained. The power control delay is a time difference between a time point when the terminal performs the channel estimation and a time point when a base station actually receives a power control bit and controls a transmission power of the FCDCH. Accordingly, an average transmission control can be lowered down in a radio channel environment that is rapid as the power control delay is shortened.
