PURPOSE: A structure for operating a pointer of a speed meter for a car is provided to exactly display a speed change of the car and to prevent a span length meter and a total mileage meter from being covered. CONSTITUTION: A structure for operating a pointer of a speed meter for a car includes a pointer(10) and a connection shaft(24). The pointer indicates graduations on a speed meter board(12). The connection shaft is vertically bended on a pointer shaft(22) operating the pointer. A slot hole is formed in the speed meter board for making the vertically bended part of the connection shaft perform a slide motion drawing an arc. The pointer has a length to an extent that the pointer does not cover a span length meter and a total mileage meter formed on a speed meter indicator board.
