PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus capable of correcting an in-line orientation of correction of individual sheets during passing of the sheet through a printing unit of a sheet processing machine. SOLUTION: The method for correcting the orientation of a surface-like sheet by the sheet processing machine comprises the steps of (a) detecting an actual position of the sheet with coordinates 1 as a reference; (b) guiding a target position of a printing cylinder 7 for receiving the sheet to be corrected in its orientation along an outer wall surface 9, by controlling to operate radial/ axial magnetic bearings 11 and 12 for supporting the cylinder 7 without contact, so as to compensate positional deviations of the cylinder and a constituent from the target position, and (c) maintaining the target position of the cylinder 7 until the orientation-corrected sheet is delivered to a conveying unit disposed at a rear position. |
