PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Fe-Ni base alloy for a lead frame, which does not cause color irregularity on the surface of a metal plated layer, and a method of manufacturing the lead frame. SOLUTION: The Fe-Ni base alloy composing the lead frame comprises the following composition; 40-45 mass % Ni, 0.4-0.7 mass % Mn, the balance mainly Fe, 0.05 mass % or less C, 0.5 mass % or less Si, 0.01 mass% or less P, 0.1 mass% or less Cr, 0.5 mass% or less Co, and 0.01 mass % or less Al, and furthermore 0.01 mass% or less S. The method of manufacturing the lead frame comprises, making an alloy band material 1 from the alloy having the above composition, forming a metal plating layer 2 on the band material 1, and forming a frame pattern 81 for lead frames on the band materials 60 with the plated metal.
