发明名称 VIDEO DECODING SYSTEM.
摘要 A digital video decoding system receives packetized video data representing programs conveyed on a plurality of video channels. The system includes a plurality of buffers (30, 50) for storing encoded video data representing images of video programs conveyed on a corresponding plurality of video channels. An individual buffer, corresponding to an individual video channel, stores sufficient encoded video data to prevent an underflow condition following switching to decode a program conveyed on the individual video channel. A processor (60) initiates switching to decode a program conveyed on a selected one of the plurality of video channels in response to a user channel selection input (70). A decoder (110) decodes encoded video data received from one of the plurality of buffers corresponding to the program conveyed on the selected video channel as determined by switching initiated by the processor. The decoder also predicts (130) a next channel to be selected by a user based on, (a) pre determined user channel and program preference criteria, (b) predetermined user channel navigation patterns, or (c) user data entry device sensory data. PA/A/2000/011734APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DELIVERING A CASED GLASS STREAM Apparatus for forming a cased glass stream having an inner core glass surrounded by an outer casing glass includes a first orifice (22) for receiving core glass from a first source (12), and an orifice ring (26) forming a second orifice (28) vertically spaced beneath and aligned with the first orifice. A chamber (30) surrounds the second orifice and communicates with the second orifice through a metering gap (56) between the first and second orifices. Casing glass is delivered from a second source (42) to the chamber, such that glass flows by gravity from the first and second sources through the orifices to form the cased glass stream. A heater ring (46) of refractory material is disposed beneath the orifice ring, and includes at least one electrical heater (48) embedded in the refractory material of the heaterring. The electrical heater is thus disposed external to the casing glass chamber for adding heat to casing glass flowing through the chamber to the metering gap. The heater rin g in the preferred embodiment of the invention underlies and is contoured for facing engagement with the entire undersurface of the orifice ring for transferring heat energy through the orifice ring to glass in the casing glass chamber.
