<p>A rotor(1) is housed inside a heated stator(2) and has material conveying channels. The channels extend either in a straight line or an arc from a coaxially located bore(4) in the rotor to the outer periphery of the rotor. The dimensions of the conveying channels in the direction of the rotor axis corresponds to the breadth of a product to be produced. The channels end either at the outer periphery or enter conveying pockets(8) at the rear edge of each channel. Pockets are machined in the outer surface of the rotor and in the direction of the rotor axis have the same dimension as the material conveying channels. A doctor blade inside the coaxial rotor bore(4) has the same length in the rotor axis direction as the conveying channels. The stator(2) has a heated slit die(3) whose outlet gap(11) in the axial direction of the rotor has the same length as the material conveying pockets. A restriction chamber located prior to the die outlet gap extends along the inside of the stator over the full length of the latter. An independent claim is included for a foamed plate-like product of starch or starch-containing material, manufactured with the claimed equipment, which has a breadth at least one and a half times the height and a homogeneous structure over the whole cross-section.</p> |
