Coil spring manufacturing control system, uses video camera to take images of spring and computer to analyze images and compare real spring measurements with reference

The system comprises a video camera (1), which continuously takes pictures of a spring (3) being manufactured under control of a computer (PC). An electronic control card (SCM) in combination with the computer control the camera to take programmable image of the spring in a given region. The computer has an image analysis software capable of determining all pixels of the generated image and measuring, using an algorithm, all geometrical dimensions (diameter, length, gradient) of the coil. The dimensions are then compared with reference dimensions and a signal is sent by the computer to activate a mechanical device to correct the spring manufacturing process.
