PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide litter for animals that overcomes the shortcomings of conventional one for animals. SOLUTION: Ground seeds of flax, sunflower, cotton and the like are used to prepare litter for animals. This litter for animals includes a plurality of discrete particles of ground seeds readily converting to a massive form, when they are wetted with water. This litter can absorb liquid, for example, animal excretions and reduce the smell substantially. In some cases, this litter may include cereal spores, for example, corn spore, a polysaccharide coagulation increaser for increasing the coagulation properties of the litter granules and a fungicide, for example, calcium propionate.
