PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shape retainer for shoes which achieves excellent shape retaining performance by making itself fit the shoes with a sufficient strength, moreover, make itself hygienic by removing moisture within the shoes with a moisture absorbing capacity and inhibiting the proliferating of mildews in the shoes while eliminating the need for afforestation without use of wood to contribute to environmental protection and further, facilitates waste disposal by employing biodegradable material that generates no harmful substance even when burned allowing itself to be recirculated to soil and a production method therefor. SOLUTION: In the shape retainer 1 which has a retaining body 3 inserted into a foot insertion space part 11 to the toe part 9 from the upper part 7 of each of the shoes 5 to retain the shape of the shoes 5, the retaining body 3 comprises a contour shape having a curved surface along the internal surface 11A of the foot insertion space part 11 to the toe part 9 from the upper part 7 of the shoes 5 while being formed out of a non-wood molded pulp produced by cutting and molding a non-wood material.
