PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a tablet feeder compact and easily operable by mounting only a necessary tablet container among a number of tablet containers. SOLUTION: The tablet feeder comprises a number of tablet containers 11 in which tablets are stored, tablet feeding means 34, in which a necessary tablet container 11 can be mounted, in a number fewer than that of the tablet containers 11, for feeding a necessary quantity of tablets corresponding to the prescription from the mounted tablet container 11, a discrimination means 16 mounted in each tablet container 11, a reading means 40 mounted in each tablet feeding means 34 for reading medicine data by the discrimination means 16 of the tablet container 11, and a means 66 for determining whether the tablet container 11 corresponding to the prescription is mounted in the tablet feeding means 34 or not based on the result of reading by the reading means 40.
