PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the reach of an arm for raising and lowering a person under medical treatment for a long time or an old person by making a base part telescopically adjustable in the longitudinal direction of a bed from the board side of the bed. SOLUTION: This lift has a column 6 stood on the base part 5 which is telescopically adjustable in the longitudinal direction of the bed 2, and an arm 7 with its rear end risibly mounted at the upper end of the column 6. A direct acting shaft 8a constituting an actuator 8 is connected near the rear end of the arm 7 and a hanger 9 for raising and lowering a person under medical treatment for a long time or an old person is arranged at the front end of the arm 7. The base part 5 comprises a fixed leg 10 fixed to the horizontal base frame 4a of a base frame 4 and a moving leg 12 connected thereto via a telescopic mechanism 11 movable in the longitudinal direction of the bed. The outer surface of a portion between the fixed leg 10 and the moving leg 12 is covered with a bellows-shaped cover 13 which expands and contracts along with the moving leg 12.
