PURPOSE: After resetting battery in an automobile, a learning value of rear oxygen sensor is recovered in a short time, thereby corresponding to an exhaust gas regulation. CONSTITUTION: In an engine mounted with a rear oxygen sensor and an engine control member, the engine control member decides whether a set learning value condition is met by considering whether a coolant temperature is over a set value, and whether a lambda feedback control is carried out, and whether a detected rpm is within a critical rpm area, and whether an engine load is within a set value. If the learning value is met, the engine control member applies a compensated value to a delayed lean burn combustion.
