PURPOSE: A method for improving the cold start performance is provided to prevent the initial start delay and the bad start caused by the air fuel ratio. CONSTITUTION: A method for improving the cold start performance comprises the steps of: determining whether an engine control unit or battery is reset; determining whether the engine rpm after starting the vehicle satisfies the starting condition when the engine control unit or battery is reset; calculating the amount of the fuel with a fuel factor along with the temperature of the cold water, a fuel deceleration factor along with the engine rpm and temperature of the cold water, and a high temperature factor along with the intake temperature, when the engine rpm satisfies the starting condition; and releasing the start of the engine after increasing the engine rpm, when the number of the injections become increased.
