PURPOSE: A device for improving the recognizability of a vehicle tachometer and a control method thereof are provided to improve the recognizability of a driver by illuminating a speed indicator with an indicator lamp and applying number lamps to respective numbers on the tachometer. CONSTITUTION: A device for improving the recognizability of a vehicle tachometer consists of many number lamps(22), an indicator lamp(24), and an electronic control unit(26). The number lamps are installed in respective numbers on a tachometer(28). The numbers are lighted on when a plate(30) of the tachometer is lighted on. The indicator lamp is installed in a speed indicator(32). A vehicle speed sensor(34) senses the speed of a vehicle. If a switch(36) of a tail light or a head light is turned on, the indicator lamp of the speed indicator is lighted on.
