PURPOSE: A rib cylinder of crash test dummy is provided to accurately measure the degree of damage to the rib of dummy during side crash test, while performing normal operation even when irregular impact force is applied. CONSTITUTION: A rib cylinder(3) comprises a cylinder(31) and a return spring(33) inserted in the cylinder so as to allow a piston rod(35) to operate in a lengthwise direction. The cylinder has a plurality of outward slide grooves(37) formed in a lengthwise direction at the inner wall of the cylinder, and the piston rod has a plurality of inward slide grooves(39) formed to correspond to the outward slide grooves, in a lengthwise direction at the outer periphery of the piston rod. A plurality of slide balls(41,41') are interposed between the inward slide grooves and the outward slide grooves. Thus, the piston rod and the cylinder point-contact each other through the slide balls.
