PURPOSE: To reduce a current for turning into reverse biased state the organic EL element of a scanning line in an unselected state as to a passive organic EL display device. CONSTITUTION: For the passive matrix organic EL display panel, which has organic EL elements arranged in matrix along rows and columns, a disclosed organic EL drive circuit is equipped with multiple drive sources 21, 22, 23, ..., 2n, which supply a drive current from a 1st power source 5 to data lines selected for every scan, multiple discharge switches 31, 32, 33,..., 3n, which connect all data lines to a voltage-holding circuit 4 in the beginning of scanning timing, the voltage-holding circuit 4 which holds each data line at a specific voltage, and horizontal drive changeover switches 11A, 12A, 13A, 14A..., 1mA which are provided by the scanning lines of the respective rows and switch to hold unselected scanning lines in a high-impedance state, by grounding or connecting the selected scanning lines to a 2nd power source 6.
