PURPOSE: An apparatus for counting data error in synchronous digital hierarchy network is provided to detect an error of data by processing B3 within an overhead in parallel. CONSTITUTION: A multiplexer(100) receives and multiplexes B3 data(B3_0, B3_1, and B3_2) so as to output 8 bit data. An XOR(110) compares the B3 data from the multiplexer(100) with parity of the B3 data. And then the XOR(110) outputs '1' when the B3 data is equal to the parity of the B3 data, otherwise outputs '0'. An encoder(120) receives and encodes the B3 data as 8 bit data generated from the XOR(110) so as to output an error of the B3 data as 4 bit data. An adder(130) adds the number of the error generated from the encoder(120) and the number of existing errors. A counter(140) counts the number of the added error in the each B3 data(B3_0, B3_1, and B3_2). An OR(150) outputs the counted error data as 16 bit data to the adder(130).
