PURPOSE: A fault diagnosis method is provided to achieve improved fault diagnosis performance by reducing possibility of making wrong judgement on the fault of PG-B sensor. CONSTITUTION: A fault diagnosis method comprises a first step(ST21 to ST15) of allowing an ECU of a motor vehicle to judge whether detection signals applied from a vehicle speed sensor and a PG-B sensor satisfy a preset signal diagnosis condition, when the detection signals are applied from the sensors; a second step(ST26 to ST33) of allowing the ECU to determine whether to generate a diagnosis code in accordance with whether the applied detection signals and the rotational frequency of turbine of the motor vehicle satisfy a preset physical error diagnosis condition, if the detection signals satisfy the preset signal diagnosis condition; and a third step of allowing the ECU to determine whether to enter a preset limp-home mode by checking whether the accumulated frequency of the generated diagnosis code is higher than a preset error threshold level, when the diagnosis code is generated.
