PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially easily producing an amide compound. SOLUTION: An amide compound is produced by reacting a compound having amino group(s) with an anhydride of a polyaminopolycarboxylic acid in the presence of the polyaminopolycarboxylic acid. Examples of the compound having the amino group(s) are a protein, a peptide, an amino acid, an amino sugar, or an amine. Examples of an amino sugar are an aminooligosaccharide and an aminooligosaccharide having its reducing terminal reduced.
