PURPOSE: A display device and an OSD(On Screen Display) controlling method are provided to arrange a pointer in a central area, and to regulate desired functions with minimum frequencies of selecting a selection and input unit, so as to give convenience users. CONSTITUTION: A display part(3) displays video signals. An OSD generating part generates a menu matrix(21) in which a plurality of menu icons(25) are arranged by a plural matrix to adjust a display state of the display part, and displays the generated display matrix on the display part. A selection and input part(15) enables a user to select the menu icons. And a controller controls a pointer for the selection through the selection and input part to be located on a menu icon in a central area of the menu matrix, upon initial display of the menu matrix. Also the controller changes a display state of the display part according to an input signal of the selection and input part.
