PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for calibrating a position sensor when a system is initially powered on and a method for recalibrating the position sensor in consideration of wear of various components to avoid an adverse effect of the wear of the various components of a transmission system. SOLUTION: A method for calibrating the position sensor when the system is initially powered on is obtained by measuring the positions of first and second gear engagement actuators at the end of movement of a gear selector member and recording it. A method for recalibrating the position sensor is obtained by determining movement limits in each direction, recording the position of a movement limit along a first path, determining a gear ratio engagement position from the determined movement limit in each direction, and determining design parameters for a gear box and a gear engagement mechanism.
