PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material for a jacking method, usable for the jacking method, having a low viscosity at the preparing time or the injecting time, capable of being uniformly injected between a laid pipe and a stratum, and capable of extremely extending a jacking distance by forming a water- impermeable layer so that the effect as the coating material may not be reduced by the dilution by water intruded from the stratum. SOLUTION: This coating material for the jacking method comprises a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin having >=75 wt.% solubility in 30 deg.C water, a boron compound and water.
