PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission for a vehicle which can transmit power with low loss of energy, and conduct a power-on gear shift to all the shift stages without the occurrence of unusual noises and shocks. SOLUTION: The automatic transmission comprises a first transmission 20, which transmits power inputted from a turbine axis 14 to a first transmission axis 21 with changing gear from the AT1-speed to the AT3-speed having a change gear ratio of i1 to i3, respectively, and a second transmission 50, which transmits the transmission power of the first transmission axis 21 to a second transmission axis 51 by changing gear with a first gear sequence 55 having a change gear ratio of i4 or with a second gear sequence 56 having a change gear ratio of i5. The second transmission 50 is provided with a second dog clutch 58 which can directly couple the power supplied by the turbine axis 14 to the first gear sequence 55. The relationship among the change gear ratios is set to be i1×i5=i3×i4=i4.
