PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that the utilizing efficiency of an FIFO is deteriorated when MPEG data with a sector number added to them are written/read. SOLUTION: A sector number attaching section 12 attaches a sector number to MPEG data read from a recording medium 11 only when the MPEG data are read from discontinuous areas of the electromagnetic 11 and outputs the resulting MPEG data to the FIFO 13. A sector number detection section 16 detects whether or not the sector number has already been attached to the MPEG data and a sector number attaching section 18 attaches a sector number consecutive to a sector number just before with respect to the MPEG data to which no sector number is attached. Thus, a data quantity of the sector numbers to be written in the FIFO 13 can be minimized and the utilizing efficiency of the FIFO can be enhanced.
