PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a line flicker of an interlace signal is made apparent to extract and correct a vertical contour correction component by using a line in a field when the signal is vertical profile-corrected in a vertical contour correcting device for highlighting the vertical contour of the image busing the extracted component by extracting the vertical contour component or the video signal. SOLUTION: The vertical contour correcting device comprises a field memory to filter the vertical contour correction component of the present field and the vertical contour correction component before one field, and executing the vertical contour correcting process so that the flicker of the interlace is not apparent by using the extracted vertical contour correction component.
