PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod-like miniaturized light weight light source, instead of the fluorescent lamp, and easily obtain a light source having a length corresponding to an original paper size. SOLUTION: The rod-like light source comprises a synthetic resin-made light-guide rod 1 having a semicylindrical profile for irregularly reflecting lights incident on light incident faces 11, 11 at both ends from an irregular reflective surface in a lengthwise intersecting plane and converging them on a semicircular radiation surface 13a to radiate from the entire length area of this radiation surface 13a, a pair of light emitters 3, 3 fixed to printed boards 2, 2 with their emitting surfaces butted to both ends of the guide rod 1, a holder 4 having a housing groove 41 for housing the guide rod 1 and locks 42 for locking the rod 1, and mounts 5, 5 for mounting the emitters 3, 3 in the holder 4.
