PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a circuit scale without the deterioration of performance by omitting the calculation of the initial value of previous probability information in the case of decoding a code by TTCM repeatedly. SOLUTION: A decoder 3 is provided with two switches 1101, 1102 two soft output decoding circuits 120, 150, two interleavers 130, 140, two de-interleavers 160, 170 and a binarization circuit 180. In the case of the first decoding operation in repeated decoding, the switches 1101, 1102 are connected respectively with terminals (c) and (d) and select set and possible optimal fixed values APP1 and APP2 as the previous probability information which has to be inputted to the circuit 120. In the case of the other decoding operations, the switches 1101, 1102 are connected with terminals (e) and (f) and select previous probability information D35 and D36 supplied from the de-interleaver 160.
