PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a solid matter for preparing a cellulose ester solution especially having excellent plane qualities, a cellulose ester solution, to provide a process for manufacturing a cellulose ester film, the cellulose ester film, and a polarizing plate and a display device using the film for remarkably reducing the defects deriving from the agglomeration of fine particles or of the cellulose ester itself. SOLUTION: The solid matter for preparing the cellulose ester solution containing fine particles is prepared by dissolving a cellulose ester and a plasticizer into an organic solvent, mixing them and drying the mixture.
