PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bidirectional conversion device prepared for an optical signal and a radio signal and capable of sharply reducing an optical coupling loss among an optical waveguide, an optical modulator and a high output receiver. SOLUTION: A semiconductor branching filter 400 for branching an optical signal into two different optical paths, a single traveling carrier waveguide type photodiode 100 for converting an optical signal passed through one optical path 300B branched by the branching filter 400 into a radio signal, a multiple quantum well field absorption type optical modulator 200 for converting a radio signal passed through the other optical path 300C branched by the branching filter 400 into an optical signal, and a semiconductor high mesa waveguide 300 are monolithically integrated on the same semiconductor substrate. |
