PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key cylinder capable of reducing the assembling work man-hours, and provide an assembling method thereof. SOLUTION: This key cylinder 10 is provided with a rotor 12 to be turned in relation to a rotor case 11 with the operation for inserting a key. Both ends of a back spring 23 wrapped around the inner end of the rotor case 11 are fitted in a fitting recessed part 36 of the rotor 12. The inner end of the rotor 12 is provided with first guide surfaces 43a and 43b, both side walls 42a and 42b and second guide surfaces 44a and 44b for guiding both the ends of the back spring 23 to the fitting recessed part 36 when wrapping the back spring 23. With this structure, the rotor 12 can be smoothly assembled in the rotor case 11 by only pushing the rotor 12 into the rotor case 11 in the condition that the back spring 23 is installed. A conventional process for using a regular key in place of a dummy key when assembling the key cylinder is eliminated.
