PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion joint in which a holder is supported under a freely movable state to both adjacent building frames at an interval, an effect on the holder of fluctuation in the vertical direction of both building frames is also prevented and appearance and sealing properties can be held for a prolonged term. SOLUTION: In the expansion joint A in which supporting members 5 and 6 installed to each building frame 3 and at the interval, holding the interval at the reentrant angle sections of the building frames 3 and 4 at the interval 22 and a cover material 8 is arranged to the support members 5 and 6 through the holder 7 arranged at a regular interval along the longitudinal direction of the interval 2, the holder 7 is formed in constitution in which two blade pieces 7a and 7b are formed in an L shape, a slot and a long groove 17 and 19 are formed to both blade pieces 7a and 7b respectively, a rotatable holding member 12 is mounted on one supporting member 5, the holding member 12 is secured slidably into the slot or long groove 17 of the blade piece 7a, and the slot or long groove 19 of the blade piece 7b is formed to the other supporting member 6 directly and slidably.
