PURPOSE: A shock absorber for a steering column of a vehicle is provided to secondly absorb a shock by using the reduction of an inner tube and an outer tube and to keep a driver safe. CONSTITUTION: An existing shock absorber is installed between an inner tube(22) and an outer tube(24). A second shock absorber(26) includes L-shaped first and second brackets(261,263) fixed on a vehicle body and a shock absorbing portion(267) having an insertion hole(265). In a head-on collision or a rear-end collision, a shock is applied to a steering wheel. The outer tube moves forward by overcoming the shock absorbing force of the existing shock absorber. Then, the end of the outer tube contacts the circumference of the insertion hole of the shock absorbing portion. With farther advancing of the outer tube, the circumference of the insertion hole is pushed. Thus, the shock absorbing unit is contracted, and the shock is absorbed.
