PURPOSE: A method of copying and transferring data on an optical recording medium is provided to omit a data transferring process to a host when data is transferred or copied in the same disk, and to allocate identification information to an unused area of read/write commands generated from the host, to display a data transferring or a data copying, thereby reducing data transmission time. CONSTITUTION: When a read command is inputted(801), an optical disk recording/reproducing device checks whether a DCF(Direct Copy Flag) is set to 1(802). If so, the device accesses an optical disk to a corresponding read position(803). The device reads data to store the data in a memory(804). The device transmits a read completion report to a host(805). The host sets a DCF of a write command to 1, and transmits the DCF(806). The device reads the data stored in the memory as transfer length, and writes the data(808). The device transmits a write completion report to the host, and stands by a next read command from the host(809). If the DCF is set 0, the device writes data transmitted from the host(810). The device transmits a write completion report to the host, and stands by a next read command from the host(811).
